Technology and Learning
I believe that technology, when utilized thoughtfully, can be a powerful tool for supporting learning. Though many exciting and innovative new products exist, even the simplest of technologies can offer tremendous learning benefits when reimagined creatively.
At several of my schools, I have taken the lead in exploring the ways in which technology might support teaching and student learning. I have offered training sessions, both formally and informally, to share information and ideas about how to best employ these tools to support learning. Additionally, I have participated in a number of collegial, peer sessions to review and discuss this important issue.

Technology In Action
I have utilized technology to support learning in a variety of ways. The link below will show one way in which I used technology to energize the middle school reading program. Many students were uninterested or apathetic in their approaches to reading and they were reluctant to share in group discussions. In reponse, I created a protected, online book review forum in which students created a reading profile and reviewed their books. Profiles and reviews were interactive and allowed for other users to comment or respond (which I moderated). In this case, students were so excited by the process that their interest and energy translated into vibrant in-class discussions.
In addition, I have created websites to suppliment our work in the classroom. A few examples can be seen via the link below.
Working with a number of visual and kinestheic learners, as well as students challenged by attention issues, I frequently utilize the interactive whiteboard in my classroom. Creating activities to support the ideas presented in the mainstream classroom, my students have been excited to review and see their progress. The links below show a few examples of our recent revision activities.
